In open source work, we often focus on technical skills — but what about the human skills that help us show up fully and work sustainably? In this session, we’ll explore the role of self-awareness as a foundational skill for open source contributors, project maintainers, and team members alike.
Using material from a leadership mini-course developed by Addison Berry, CEO at Osio Labs, we’ll define internal self-awareness and distinguish it from mindfulness. You’ll learn how greater awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and values can help you:
- Make decisions that align with what truly matters to you
- Reduce stress and prevent burnout
- Improve how you collaborate and communicate with others
- Set boundaries and navigate conflict with intention
- Show up with more empathy — for yourself and your teammates
This session will include practical reflection prompts, a bit of neuroscience, and real-world examples from the Drupal community. You don’t need to be a manager or a team lead to benefit — just someone who wants to be more intentional and resilient in your work.
Audience
Drupal contributors, open source maintainers, developers, designers, and community organizers who want to develop stronger emotional intelligence and work with more intention and clarity. No leadership title required.
