Drupal has a slogan, “Come for the code, stay for the community.” What does that really mean? And why would you want to do it?
In this session I’ll talk about some of the ways you can get involved with the Drupal community and reasons to make the effort. Spoiler: like many things in life, you get out what you put in. Since it’s a large global community, there are a lot of options available for how you can participate. This session will help you identify the community opportunities most suited for your personality and your goals.
Some of the benefits of community involvement include:
- Getting answers for your technical questions
- Learning and improving your skills
- Finding jobs
- Finding clients and projects
- Making friends
And some of the opportunities we’ll touch on are:
- Your Drupal.org profile
- Slack workspaces
- Finding and attending events
- Interest groups
- Initiatives
- Issue queues
Sometimes navigating the established community can be overwhelming, so the goal of this session is to inspire you and provide practical ideas for participating at a level that aligns with your needs and comfort level.
