Getting Around Portland

The easiest way to get around Portland is by taking MAX light rail, streetcar or a bus to your destination. You must have a validated ticket before boarding. TriMet currently accepts two methods of payment for rides. You can still use cash to buy tickets and day passes on board the bus or from a ticket machine. You can also pay with a Hop Fastpass card, either a physical card or the Hop app (Android Pay, Apple Pay or Samsung Pay). Just tap your card or phone on the Hop reader every time you board a bus or train, including transfers. But unlike other transit systems, you don’t have to tap off at your destination.
